Profile of the Department

As an autonomous college, St. Joseph's College of Arts & Science follows the semester pattern with Choice Based Credit System requiring 3 years of study for an under-graduate degree programme and 2 years of study for a post-graduate programme in Arts & Science and 3 years of study for application oriented post-graduate degree programme. The duration of each semester is 90 working days.

The college has obtained Autonomous status and opted for Choice Based Credit System for the students admitted in UG and PG courses from the Academic Year 2008 - 2009. The objectives of the credit system are
¢ To provide mobility and flexibility for the students within and outside the department;
¢ To provide broad-based education
¢ To provide students scope to acquire extra credits;
¢ To impart to students more job-oriented skills; and
¢ To make any course multidisciplinary in approach
